Bone Mineral Density Screening
In the first year of bone mineral density screening, Wyeth pharmaceuticals tested forty-nine thousand women.
By the end of this year Wyeth will have tested more than seventy thousand women across the United States.
Thus far the study has determined that 61% of these women were at high or moderate risk of developing osteoporosis and a related fracture.
While the study is ongoing, the conclusion obviously is that it is vitally important for a menopausal woman to talk to her doctor about her risk of menopausal bone loss to quantify this risk through bone mineral density screening.
