  Alma College

Alma College and Scotland, U.S.A. (City of Alma) are so intimately connected that they are practically synonymous. It is difficult to think about the city without thinking of Alma College. The renowned liberal arts college of 1400 full-time students is the showplace of the community. It is located on a 100 acre campus in the center of the city. It was founded in 1886 and has provided a profound intellectual and cultural infusion into the entire life of the city.

The Scottish traditions of Alma College after 113 years are rich and add to the institution's unique character. The athletic teams are referred to as ''the Scots'', the marching band is ''a Kiltie Band'' wearing a uniform of MacPherson Kilts and the college even has its own officially registered tartan. The Scottish arts including bagpiping and Highland dancing are featured in many Alma College ceremonies.

Alma College is a Phi Beta Kappa institution offering the degrees Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music.

Among the 1400 full-time students are students from 20 states and six foreign countries.

The annual Alma Highland Festival and Games is held each year on the campus of Alma College which, of course, is completely appropriate for the Scottish atmosphere.
